Problem:	Six times a number minus two, is the same as when 10 is increased by the four times a number.
Solution Step 1:	Write the equation 6x – 2 = 10 + 4x
Solution Step 2:	Bring all the like terms on one side; terms with variables on one side and numbers on one side 6x - 4x = 10 + 2
Solution Step 3:	Solve and simplify the equation obtained above 6x - 4x = 10 + 2 2x = 12 x = 6
