Mean, Median, Mode Worksheet |
|
Lesson 1 |
Problem: Calculate the mean, median, and mode for the set of data.
Data Set: 3, 4, 5, 4, 6, 8
Solution Mean = (Total of all observations)/ No of Observations.
Step 1: So the mean = (3+4+5+4+6+8)/6 = 5
Solution Median is value of observation that divides the data distribution into two
Step 2: equal parts i.e. half of observations i.e. half of observations are above it and
half of observations are below it. If the number of observation is even
then median is average of n/2 and n/2+1.
So the median is 3+4/2= 3.5
Solution Mode is that value which occurs most often i.e. 4
Step 3:
Solution The answer is: Mean = 5 Median = 3.5 Mode = 4
