Word Problems With Consecutive Integers Worksheet

                    Lesson 1

                                                            Problem:                   Two consecutive integers have a sum of 65. What are the two integers?

Solution                    Let x= First consecutive number

Step 1:                        Let x+1= Second consecutive number

                                                                                Solution                    So, the equation becomes x + (x + 1) = 65

Step 2:                                                                         2x + 1 = 65

                                                                   2x = 64

                                                                                    X = 64/2

                                                                   X= 32

Step 3:

So, the first consecutive number is x = 32.

Second consecutive number is x + 1 = 32 + 1 = 33

The answer is: 32, 33
