Problem:                   Multiply the fractions

2/5 x 4/5

Step 1:                     Look at the fraction carefully

Step 2:  Multiply numerator and denominator of fractions with each other and simplify

2	x	4	=	8
5		5		25

Solution                    The answer is:

8

When denominators are not same and fractions are mixed:  

3 1/2 x 5 3/4

Convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and multiply numerator and

denominator of the fractions with each other i.e.

= 7/2 x 23/4

= 161/8

The answer is: 20 1
