Problem:                   What percent of 80 is 40?

Solution                    First form the equation:

Step 1:                          x% of 80 = 40

Solution x/100 × 80 = 40

Step 2:                                                                       

Solution                   On rearranging we have,

Step 3:

 x = 40/80 × 100 = 50    

                                                            Solution                    The answer is: 50%
