Lesson 1 |
Problem: One side of a triangle is 7 cm and other side is of 5 cm. What is the hypotenuse?
Solution Here we have AB = 7 and BC = 5
Step 1:
Solution Using the Pythagorean Theorem
Step 2: AB2 + BC2 = AC2
Solution Replacing value AB with 4 and BC with 3 in above formula we have:
Step 3: AB2 + BC2 = AC2
(7)2 + (5)2 = (x)2
(x)2 = (7)2 + (5)2= 49 + 25 = 74
x= √74 = 8.6
Solution The answer is: 8.6
Step 4:
