Problem: In Math class there are 90 students.

The ratio of boys and girls was 4 : 5.

How many boys and girls are there?

Solution The ratio of boys and girls in a class is 4 : 5

Step 1:

Solution There are 90 students in class.

Step 2:

Solution Every 4 students out of 9 students are boys and every 5 are girls out of 9 students.

Step 3:

Solution Number of boys = 4/9 x 90 = 40 Boys

Step 4:

Solution Number of girls = 5/10 x 90 = 50 Girls

Step 5:

Solution Answer: 40 boys and 50 girls
