Problem:                   Find the square of 9 or 9²

Solution                    Multiply 9 by itself

Step 1:  

Solution The operation that takes place is 9 x 9 =81

Step 2:  

                                                            Solution                    The answer is: 81

Find the square root of 16 or √16

First factor 16.

16= 2x2x2x2

Form two equal pairs of factors.

16 = n² = n × n = 2x2 × 2x2 = 2 x 2

n = 4

The answer is: 4
