Given two tangents, a=310°, b= 174°, find x.

                                                          

                                                            Solution    Angle formed outside = 1/2 difference of intercepted arcs

                                                            Step 1:       

                                                           

                                                            Solution    < x = 1/2 (a – b)

                                                            Step 2:                                                          

 

Solution    Substituting the given values of a and b in formula above

Step 3:                    

                                                                                    < x = 1/2(260° - 174°)

< x = 1/2(136°)

< x = 68°

                                           

                                                            Solution    The answer is: 68o
