Problem:    Find the equation of line that has slope of 4

                                                                                  And passes through the point (-1, 2).

Solution      Use the point slope form when a point on the slope and slope is  given.

Step 1:

Solution     y -y₁ = m (x-x₁), m = slope and (x₁, y₁) = any point on line.

Step 2:

Solution     Substituting into the equation y-y₁ = m (x-x₁),

                                                            Step 3:         m = 4 (slope) and (x₁, y₁) = (-1, 2) any point on line.

         y – 2 = 4(x-(-1))

         y – 2 = 4x + 4

         y = 4x + 6

                                                            Solution     Answer: y = 4x + 6

Step 4:

A.  Write an equation for the line passing through (5, 6) and (4, 8).

 B.    What is the slope of line passing through the point (-3, -4) and (5, -2)
