Problem:                   Solve: √(x + 5) = 3

Step 1: Square both sides i.e. {√(x + 5)}² = (3)²

Solution x + 5 = 9; x = 9 – 5; x = 4

 Step 2:                        

                                                             Solution                    The answer is:  4

 Step 3:

Check Answer

If x = 1,

√(1 + 8) = 3

√(9) = 3
