                     Lesson 1

Problem:                   Determine the slope of the line that passes through the points.

(5, 6), (4, 2)

Step 1: Slope of a Line is change in y over change in x: y₂ – y₁/x₂ – x₁

Solution (x₁, y₁), (x_2, y₂): (5, 6), (4, 2)

                                                             Step 2:                                  

Solution Slope of the Line: (2 – 6) / (4 – 5) = - 4/ -1 = 4

                                                             Step 3:    

 Solution                     The answer is:  4
