SinA = Opposite Side         Hypotenuse

CosA= Adjacent side        Hypotenuse

TanA=  Opposite Side        Adjacent Side

Problem:    The person is 6 m tall casts a shadow on the ground 12 m.

                                                                                    At what angle do the rays of the sun hit the ground?

Solution      tan 12 = y / 6

Step 1:

Solution      0.2 = y /6

Step 2:

Solution      y = 0.2 x 6

Step 3:  

                                                            Solution    Answer: 1.2

Step 4:

A. A child is flying a ballon and its altitude is 120 meters, the angle of depression where the ballon goes down to be 27°. How far is the landing spot from a point on the ground vertically?

B. An 10 meter ladder makes an angle of 34° with the ground. How far is the bottom of the ladder from the base of the building?
