Determinant 2 x 2 Matrix

If the given matrix of order 2 is A =

                                                            Then the expression a₁₁a₂₂ - a₁₂a₂₁ is defined as determinant of A.

Problem:                   Calculate the determinant of each matrix .

Step 1: Then the determinant of the matrix will be given by   a₁₁a₂₂ - a₁₂a₂₁

Solution Hence, 4 x 5 - 7 x 2 = 20 - 14 = 6
