How to Divide a Polynomial by a Monomial
1. Divide each term.
A) Divide the real numbers.
B) Subtract the exponents.
2. If a sign is present, write the sign between the terms.
3. A number divided by itself is 1.
Problem: Divide: 25x5 / 5x3
Step 1: Divide numbers: 25 / 5 = 5
Solution Subtract exponents: x5 / x3 = x2
Step 2:
Solution = 5x2
