Problem: A measurement of a field is taken to be 450 m in length and 300 m in width.

The absolute error is + 0.04 m. What is the range of tolerance for length of the field?

Step 1: The range of tolerance will be 450m + 0.04m = 450.04m (top limit) and 450m-0.04m = 449.96m (lower limit).

Step 2: 450.04 – 449.96 = 0.08 m

The answer is: 0.08 m
