Multiplying Polynomials

                    Lesson 1

Problem:                   Multiply: (2x+1) (x-2)

Step 1: Multiply (x-2) by 2x = 2x² - 4x

Solution Now Multiply (x-2) by 1 = x – 2

Step 2:                        

Solution 2x² - 4x + x - 2 = 2x² - 3x – 2

Step 3:           

                                                             Solution                    The answer is:  2x² - 3x – 2

                                                            Try two practice problems:  

Multiply:

A. (x+3)(x-8)

B. (4x-9)²
