Slope And Equation Of Lines              

                     Lesson 1

Problem:    Find the slope of line passing through points (7, 8) and ( 9, 10)

Solution   Use point slope form y - y1 = m (x-x₁), m = slope and (x, y),

Step 1: (x₁, y₁) are points on line.

Solution      Substituting in the equation: y-y₁ = m (x-x₁),

Step 2:

Solution     (10 − 8) = m (9 – 7)

Step 3:   2 = m (2)

m = 2/2

                                                            Solution    Answer: m = 1

Step 4:

A. Find the slope of line passing through the point (1, 2) and (-3, -4)

B. Find equation of line that has a slope of 4 and y intercept of 8
